Flat Screen Spring Conversion

In response to numerous inquiries from Cedarapids/ElJay flat screen owners requesting conversion of their rubber spring-equipped flat screens to steel coil springs, Cedarapids engineered a coil spring conversion in early 2000. The new coil spring was designed to provide smoother starting, stopping and operation than previous coil springs. Field testing conducted on several different Cedarapids flat screen models was favorable and well accepted. 

The conversion consists of one coil spring (p/n 09450-783-06) along with two coil spring guides (p/n 03172-341-07) to replace each rubber spring. Installation requires skip welding one coil spring guide, centered around each existing top and bottom rubber spring guide, on screen and base. The one-to-one conversion can be made to any model Cedarapids/ElJay flat screen equipped with rubber springs, except model TSH5163-26. 

The model TSH5163-26 is originally equipped with four rubber springs, but is set up to accept eight for "heavy suspension". When converting this model, it is recommended that eight coil springs be installed. This requires four additional spring brackets and four spring bracket extensions, in addition to the springs and guides. Please consult the factory and advise the serial number of the unit to obtain the correct part numbers for brackets and extensions. 

Please Note: This conversion must be made to the whole screen. Screens will sit 1-1/4" higher after the conversion. Under load, the height is the same as the rubber spring.

New Water Shielded Breather for Flat Screens

In response to field reports from flat screen owners operating in wet applications, a modified breather has been developed to prevent water entry into wheel cases.

This breather was primarily designed for all flat screens with spray systems equipped with the original breather (p/n 07052008). Please note that Cedarapids still uses the original breather very successfully on other equipment, and we are not recommending the change for any other application than flat screen units. 

The new breathers (quantity 2 required per screen) interchange with the old breathers. No other parts are needed.

The new breather was successfully tested at various locations during 2000 and is now available for purchase through your local Cedarapids distributor.
